The Sommelier

My story with food and wine began over 20 years ago in a small Sardinian restaurant in Australia. What started as a simple job to pay for my studies quickly became a lifelong passion. From running tables and washing dishes to stepping into the kitchen and eventually into the world of wine, I realized this was where I truly belonged.

For me, wine isn’t just something you drink; it’s a story to be told, a memory to be made, and a way to celebrate life. That’s exactly what I hope to share here at The Wine Spot. So, grab a glass, take a seat, and let’s enjoy the journey together. Curious how I pair wine for a celebration? Start with the wedding catering planning guide.

How I approach wine pairing

A good wine pairing is not a rule you look up. It is a conversation between a dish and a bottle: sometimes you match, a rich wine next to a rich plate, and sometimes you contrast, and the wine cuts straight through. Both work, as long as someone has tasted them side by side first.

That is what fills this page — the bottles I am drinking, the pairings that surprised me, recipes written with a glass in mind, and the small pieces of wine wisdom that take years to pick up. No scores and no jargon: just what I would pour for you if you were sitting at my table.

And if you are planning something bigger, the same wine pairing goes into the menu I write for your event. Have a look at the catering services or get in touch.
